Inside the marcus evans Development Team

As we bid farewell to 2024, the marcus evans Development Team stands at the forefront of an extraordinary journey marked by remarkable momentum and transformative achievements.

December heralded a significant milestone for our development team with the successful launch of our new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system - HubSpot. This ambitious project was driven by the exceptional leadership of Anthony Knox, Chief Marketing Officer, and Shraddha Shetty, Global Head of Digital Strategy and Digital Business Development, alongside the implementation partner Six & Flow team. Under Shraddha’s guidance, the Digital Development team, alongside Ubed Mohammad, Global Learning and Development Manager, and the marcus evans stakeholders, conducted over 150 training sessions, ensuring that our super admin users and advocates were well-prepared for the transition.

The marcus evans Development Team is forging ahead with over 12+ exciting projects across every vertical, redefining our business landscape. As we look towards Phase 2 of our journey, the integration of HubSpot with Breeze AI and the MEConnects application is poised to revolutionise connectivity and engagement across the organisation. Currently in development, MEConnects will play a crucial role in this synergy, paving the way for a more integrated and dynamic business environment.

During this festive Christmas season, Shraddha graced our Mumbai office with her presence, where she was warmly welcomed by Project Manager - Anushree Dalvi including Ashok Biswal (UI/UX Developer), Ratan Chaurasia (Frontend Developer), Monika Moolya (QA/QC Analyst) and key team members. This visit not only strengthened our bonds but also served as a reminder of the collaborative spirit that fuels our success.

One of the most exhilarating events of the year was the HMS Belfast Team-Building Task, a challenge that celebrated creativity while drawing inspiration from history. Set against the backdrop of the legendary WWII cruiser, teams were tasked with presenting a technology solution integrated with the ship—an innovation that could have altered the course of war. The winning team, Anushree Dalvi, Mohammad Khan, Somil Bansal (Junior Full Stack Developer), Rokhi Rawlo (Frontend Developer), and Anas Khan (Dotnet Intern), exemplified outstanding teamwork and ingenuity, pushing boundaries with their forward-thinking solution.

As the year draws to a close, we came together in meaningful ways to celebrate our successes and reflect on our shared journey. This was beautifully encapsulated in a team dinner hosted by Shraddha at Asilo - The St. Regis Mumbai, India. With the iconic Mumbai skyline as our backdrop, we enjoyed a memorable evening, reflecting on our achievements and setting the tone for the future. Confident discussions about the next bold steps in our journey filled the air, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and innovation.

Global Learning and Quality Update

I am pleased to share a significant milestone in the growth of our Global L&Q team. Over the past few months, we have expanded our team with highly skilled specialists, enabling us to enhance our support across various departments. In addition, we have established our new office in Hyderabad as the Center of Excellence for L&Q, reinforcing our commitment to driving greater value for the marcus evans Group.

This expansion is a strategic step towards strengthening our capabilities and ensuring we deliver even greater impact across the organisation. It would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our C-level leaders, Louisa Boucher from our Talent Acquisition and other key stakeholders, whose guidance has been instrumental in shaping our strategy, recruitment, and implementation efforts.

Event Highlights for North America Summits

2024 was a very successful year for our North American Summits Division and no better way to end it than with nine individual summits across November-December. The teams were on the road travelling around North America including Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas and Amelia Island.

Casino nights, Mad Hatter Gin & Tea Party, Bourbon Tasting were a few of the themes chosen to entertain our attendees.

The Holiday spirit was very present at our December events with ugly Christmas sweater contests and festive atmosphere all around!

Event Highlights for EMEA Summits

We received excellent feedback from Elite and EPI attendees, highlighting the event’s exceptional organisation and valuable content.

The German Energie und Umweltgipfel: Produzierende Industrie was also a great success. The agenda, the mix of attendees, the team and venue were just perfect. We had a great atmosphere onsite with a very interactive group. Successful meetings, interesting presentations, and good conversations. Great turnout for the evening reception, attendees thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment, even took video footage of the musicians. The high re-booking rate confirmed is a testament. We look forward to many more successful summits to come.

As we closed out 2024, and onto 2025, our small team in Grand Rapids has experienced significant growth in sales to date from fiscal 2023-24.

With the start of the new year, January especially deserves some individual and team shout outs. First, to Dylan receiving your second deal. Second, Josh, two deals, one new, one repeat, Third, is Andy who had his best month yet in total sales in his just short of two-year career here, which with that determination and grit is open for everyone to see and look forward to seeing you climb up the leader board.

I am truly proud of what our office has been able to accomplish, and we will continue to grow together. We are just getting started and our goal should be nothing short of crushing fiscal 2023-24’s numbers individually and team wise.

Sales Careers Day in Kuala Lumpur

On February 10, the Talent Acquisition team of the KL office led by Nina Kasmal, TAM of APAC, with great support by TA Associate Suraya Hanis, organised and hosted our first Sales Career Day. These were ten candidates carefully shortlisted among hundreds of applicants that were submitted to us.

The session comprised an introduction by our esteemed CEO of Asia Pacific, Derek Conway, and the meet up session and interview session by our leadership team, Saleem Muhammad COO of APAC, Jinay Sheth, Regional Sales Director Summits DA – APAC, and Asif Iqbal, Regional Sr Sales Director of LSE, SEA.

Over brunch candidates got to meet our Managers, Anand Munusamy from LSE DA team, Yuvaneshvar Shri Ram and Tharanee Vegiakumar from the Summits DA team. Overall, it was a successful and meaningful event with good takeaways on both ends. Soon we shall see some of those faces as part of the marcus evans team!

Linguarama

We are sad to report that our Linguarama Frankfurt regional manager Donna Christie passed away unexpectedly on January 2.

Donna began her career with Linguarama in the mid-1980s as a management trainee in Stratford. She then moved to a sales position in Frankfurt. Her success in Frankfurt led to her appointment as manager of Linguarama Berlin. Always up for an adventure, she successfully set up a new Linguarama centre in Leipzig after German reunification. Her final stage at Linguarama was in Frankfurt as regional manager, a post she held since the mid-1990s.

Donna’s cheerfulness and positivity were infectious. As a manager, she carried out her work with great empathy. She was there for her team in good and challenging times.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and to the team at Linguarama Frankfurt.

London Office Move

The London office said goodbye to Lower Thames Street, and our fabulous view out over The Shard on Friday 20 December, in favour of a new location in the bustling centre of Farringdon. Situated on the lofty 11th floor, the new office boasts stunning views of St Pauls & The Old Bailey on the West side, and across to Big Ben, the London Eye and beyond to Battersea Power Station to the East. In the couple of months since moving in, everyone has settled in nicely to our modern new space, its floor-to-ceiling windows maximising the cracking views, not to mention the pub situated to the corner of the building’s ground floor which is sure to become a firm favourite.

London Summit SP Sales

Happy New Year! Knowing the importance of starting the year strong, the London Summits Team hit the ground running with six new business deals and a promotion in January. Following on from a strong Q1, the team were keen to make the new year, new office and new quarter count. The first two deals of the year were extra special, seeing Benjamin Wright and Vishma Solanki booking their first deals in with us – well done Ben and Vishma! Following on from a superb legals event at the Four Seasons, Orlando, Florida in December whereby all three of her attending clients rebooked, newly promoted Rachel Robinson wasted no time joining the list of scorers for London’s third new business deal of the month. The fourth came at the experienced hands of Alexandro van Der Ploeg, and Haya Syed finished the month off with style scoring two new business sales on the same day!

London Conferences

We have had a busy and exciting start to the year for Conferences London, with significant developments across our events and teams.

We have launched new Capital Markets events in the Middle East which have been produced by the team in London. These events are set to take place in 2025 to expand the success of some of our European event titles in a new market.

Our production team has also grown, with new producers now based in Mumbai and Macedonia working closely with the London team. Meanwhile, the sales team for European Capital Markets events is expanding to support continued growth, with a new office in Karachi providing additional resource and expertise.

A huge thank you to our sales teams and producers here in London, whose collaboration with teams across the globe is continuing to drive our success. Finally, our London team are settling in well to the new office following our move in December, creating a great foundation for the year ahead.
