London / IT

Thanks for keeping our IT teams busy with over 7,588 incidents and requests resolved since the start of the year, a huge effort from the team. In August we welcomed Daniel Righter to our North American IT team, based out of Chicago. Daniel will provide end user support to the region.

Excited to see the launch of MEEM (the new Marcus Evans Event Manager platform) across summits in NA and Europe ran. Thanks to Robert Wilkinson and Giannos Ioannou for their respective contributions, ensuring these events run on the new platform went off without a hitch.

We continue to invest in our IT infrastructure, to deliver improvements in speed, uptime and availability whilst reducing downtime. We are also close to completing with a partnership with a Gartner Magic quadrant listed vendor to implement a new CRM system that will replace MLM. This system will finally provide a master customer data repository, enhanced business insights, a 360 degree view of prospect and client interactions, and integration with telephony platforms.

We are currently in the process of planning an audit of all end user computing hardware to ensure that our colleagues worldwide have access to contemporary equipment in line with our hardware lifecycle policy.

I am excited to highlight our Teams drop-in events which are a new initiative which give colleagues the opportunity to virtually meet with people in IT support and management for a Q&A session. I would encourage anyone to participate and we will be enhancing communication around this to drive uptake. It’s a chance to meet with the IT management and support colleagues, make suggestions, to vent and to help shape our IT strategy. These events are publicised within the SysAid portal, and we will include dates and times for them in this newsletter going forward.

MEEM Up and Running

We are excited to announce the official launch of MEEM (the new Marcus Evans Event Manager platform) across summits in all regions. Events from February this year have been supported by MEEM and the new platform will provide huge benefits for the group longer term as it is further developed. I would like to highlight that it would have been impossible to realise a project of this magnitude without the dedication and tireless support of Ulrike who has really project managed this throughout and a big shout out to Areti who has contributed significantly to its development and delivery. Additionally, I would like to recognise Stuart who has been the lead developer on the platform for a number of years and done an incredible job to help us meet our unique and very specific demands. The Summit Event Management team has had to put in a lot of hours to implement this new platform and they have had significant support from all of our Onsite IT team. The Roll out of MEEM for conferences and the broader business is well underway and should be realised in early 2023! Great work everyone!

Montreal SP Updates

Montreal might be the coldest city for a Marcus Evans location but if you were paying attention, it was a hot summer north of the border!

June: June kicked off with a mixture of new business deals by Kevin, Regina, and Alia. Alia an up-and-coming superstar and clear candidate for rookie of the year honors has contributed more towards Pharma than the COVID vaccine when it first came out. Congrats on your 75k new business deal! Andrew saw his efforts pay off as he was able to wheel in an 85k OC at HR! Well done to Draga as well for showing that Aerospace is taking off again with multiple rebook deals and OCs of his own on A&D!

July: Canada Day+4th of July= a whole bunch of fireworks for the month- congrats to Ettah and Sonia for sharing honors in lighting the fuse! Ettah saw what his hard work and preparation for a summit can lead to by rebooking his client into an Open Contract for 115k and Sonia showed that after some time off raising her beautiful baby boy, she came back to work and raised the bar on her own accomplishments by immediately contributing a 65k T&D Deal- not sure who needs you more, Joey or our team! Either way, we’re happy to have you back 😊

August: In the US August is best known for the opening of NFL training camps and pre-season football. In Canada, Kevin and Tom skipped through the pre-season and showed that they were in clear mid season form leading by example. Massive congrats to Tom for 2 75k deals and Kevin with 3 deals of his own. Not to be outdone by the seasoned veterans/old guys, Alia on Kevin’s team, continued her conquest with another 75k new business deal on Pharma. Kevin hasn’t been this happy by a pharma contribution since Pfizer came out with…never mind! Congrats to Alia!

The Toronto Team

The Toronto DA team welcomed Eduardo Granados Munoz who transferred to the Toronto office from Chicago. Eduardo had been working in the DA team in Chicago for the last three years. As Manager - DA Summits – Toronto, Eduardo immediately had an impact on the team with his positive attitude and experience in working on the PWM brand.

Welcome to Canada, Eduardo!

Ahmed Elmisry (Toronto SP - BDA) attended his first Summit in Beverly Hills, CA, in September. The in-person Summit experience has helped him better understand how we execute the one-on-one meetings onsite, which has already made a difference in how he articulates our process to new potential sponsors.

The Toronto Summits team exhibited at the Career fair at a local University. We received a lot of interest from candidates looking to start a career in a global firm like ours.

With a number of Summits coming up this quarter, we look forward to excellent results!

The Chicago Team

As the winter descends upon us, it is imperative we reflect on the last few months of summer in Chicago.

The Professional Training team has been expanding globally this financial year. We ran over 35 North American Virtual events, 20 European Virtual events, 4 German Virtual events, and 3 in-person French events, on top of 10 in-house trainings (IHT).

We have our production “A Team” (Ana and Andie) in Madrid who sourced 40+ new trainers for new events in North America and Europe, while maintaining a portfolio of 40+ annual events we run on a biannual and triannual basis.

Our “young” (3 month) marketing team in Cape Town quickly dominated the market and understood the assignment. Tumelo Mapena and Zaheera Ramsamy closed over 40 deals, keeping up with the top marketers in Chicago. With 10 deals already on the books in October, Dzingi Makovah and the team are going to break records in Q1.

Chicago Marketing has always been our constant. Alex Dzik is our senior marketer, closing over $140K worth of business. Emily Eastern, only with the company a year, was close behind him with 94 deals. Focusing on IHT this next financial year, they should both be breaking $60K a quarter.

Conference Direct Marketing promoted 30 events this year bringing in just shy of $200K. This one-(wo)man team (Angelica Anselmo) contributed to over 15% of the conference business, registering 20% of all delegates.

This quarter, we also saw the success of 10 in-person summits. We are grateful for everyone's efforts in making them a success, and would like to particularly congratulate our top sellers this quarter:

  • Gabriel Dinu

  • Lamya Righi

  • Jim Holman

  • Frankie Campos

  • Eduardo Granados Munoz

Our summer was not just work, but we also had fun moments that consist of moments spent soaking up the sun on a rooftop on a Friday, sipping on beers and cocktails after a long week. They also consist of times spent indulging on a Fudge Sundae or Popsicle during a lunch break, making a perfect breather.

The social committee also put together Employee Appreciation Week which was aimed at recognizing employees for all their hard work this financial year.

Last but not least, we would like to welcome the following new faces to the office:

  • Jacob Gunther

  • Tim Hofstad

  • Hasan Malik

  • Cassidy Marcolini

  • Leonardo (Leo) Panosso

  • Mya Radlovic

  • Nevena Santrac

  • Noelle Sharkey

  • Daniel Williamson

  • Marissa Zayed

Wishing you lots of success with the company.

International Experience

This quarter several people visited the Chicago office, from other offices across the world. One of the guests was Tadeo Fernandes who joined the Chicago team for a week from the Montreal office.

Here is what he had to say about his experience in the Chicago office:

“Working in Chicago for a week was a great way to feel the city’s rhythm and life from the inside! I particularly enjoyed meeting colleagues and getting to know the similarities and differences between their experience and mine in Montreal. The office has a great balance between experienced veterans always willing to help, and recent hires coming in with fresh ideas and developing their own style. It also gave me a much wider perspective on the different roles and divisions within the company and some entertaining stories from years past. It really is a memorable experience. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to grow within the company and at the same time experience life in a different city.”
